WWE NXT 04/11/18 Recap

It’s the standard post-TakeOver episode with a couple of matches and a bunch of video packages and “exclusive” interviews.

WWE NXT 04/11/18 is the TakeOver New Orleans fallout episode. You can expect the dark matches before TakeOver, Fallout videos, and most likely some news on the Raw and SmackDown NXT call ups. Beyond that, we’ll likely get some hints about matches we’ll see from the next batch of tapings from Full Sail. Let’s get to the recap!

WWE NXT 04/11/18 Recap

WWE. Then. Now. Forever. Cold open on a TakeOver New Orleans recap video package.

Standard opening credits (likely featuring AoP and the Iconic Duo for the last time) and we’re taped (originally taped before TakeOver on Saturday) from New Orleans. Mauro welcomes us to the show and Kairi Sane’s music hits and she’s out. Lacey Evans’ music hits next and she’s out.

Match #1: Kairi Sane vs. Lacey Evans

Match of the week – though there is only one other match which didn’t have a finish… so. But, yeah, this one isn’t too bad. I’m not a huge fan of Lacey’s current gimmick, but her in ring work isn’t bad here. Kairi sells a bunch of Lacey’s offense to build up to the big babyface comeback. Kairi gets all of her regular spots in and puts Evans away with the elbow drop from the top.

Verdict: Thumbs Up – With a newly minted heel champ, Kairi has to be in the running for the first shot at Baszler.

Next, we get a video recap of the ladder match for the NXT North American Championship at TakeOver.

Later tonight? Exclusive footage on Roderick Strong’s heel turn from Saturday.

Also, later tonight? A look at the NXT Women’s Championship match.

Up next?  A look at Gargano vs. Ciampa.

Back from no break, we take a look at the NXT Tag Team Championship match instead.

Next, we see this interview Cathy Kelley did with the Undisputed Era.

After that, we see Authors of Pain debuting on Raw and severing their ties with Paul Ellering.

Up next? A look at Ciampa vs. Gargano. Maybe they mean it this time?

After no break, we’re sent to a video recap of the Unsanctioned Match between Ciampa and Gargano.

Next week? Johnny Gargano – Live!

Later tonight: Heavy Machinery vs. Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss is our main event.

After no break, we see a video recap on the Ember Moon vs. Shayna Baszler match.

Next, we see this interview Kayla Braxton does with Shayna Baszler.

After that, we see Ember Moon debuting on Raw and a Raw Fallout video with her and Nia Jax.

Next, we get a video recap on Aleister Black vs. Andrade Cien Almas for the NXT Championship.

Up next? Our tag team main event of Heavy Machinery vs. Moss & Sabbatelli.

Back from break, we see brief clips of No Way Jose and The Iconic Duo (I refuse to call them “The IIconics” – thanks, Vince.) on Raw and SmackDown respectively. Man, this means no more Billie and Peyton vlogs from the PC where stuff happens in the background.

Next week, Lars Sullivan faces off with Killian Dain. Considering their previous meeting last week never ended – good. We’ll get a definitive winner in a match still technically happening.

After that, Heavy Machinery are out for our main event. Moss & Sabbatelli, now apparently friends again, are out last. If they’re going to no sell their “almost breakup”, they really should set Moss & Sabbatelli up as EC3’s goons. Similar gimmick, similar enough look between them all – it could be a thing!

Match #2: Heavy Machinery vs. Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli

We’ve seen this one enough times that it became obvious, even before the spoiler report, that something else was going to happen here. Sure enough, these guys have a standard tag match, complete with Otis getting in the worm during his on fire hot tag sequence. And… War Machine, sorry War *Raiders* debut and wipe everyone in the ring out. I’m good with this. With Authors of Pain now gone, War Raiders can be the unstoppable monster tag machine at NXT. With zero expectations of match quality on the “post-TakeOver” episode of weekly NXT, this was the time to do this.

Verdict: Thumbs Up – Not really for the match, but because War Raiders finally debuted on TV.

Post-match, the bell rings as soon as War Raiders start their attack. War Raiders proceed to decimate both teams and hit a variety of moves until all four other guys are left on the mat.

We go off the air on War Raiders celebrating in the ring.

See you next week with an episode fresh from tonight’s tapings at Full Sail!
